Placing Holds

Holds can be placed by logging into your account in the Online Catalogue with your username and password. Our staff are always happy to help you place a hold on an item if we don't have it available for you right away.

You can have a maximum of 50 holds on your card at any one time.

Placing Holds

You can place a hold by selecting "Place Hold" on a record summary page for any given item. The "Place Hold" button is located above and to the right of the title.

If you are not logged in yet, you will be asked to enter your username and password. If you have never logged into the catalogue before or you are having troubles, please click here for more information. Protect your personal information and log out after using a library computer.

Pickup Library

You will then be able to choose which branch to pick up the item up at. The default is the branch where your account was created, but you can pick any TNRD branch.

If you move, library staff can on request, change your home library to another branch.

Hold Notification

When a hold is placed, you can enable or disable notification methods for that hold. Possible notification methods are e-mail, telephone or mail. You can set your default notification method from within the "My Account" page on the online catalogue.

Suspended holds

When you place a hold you can "suspend this hold" until a specific date of your choosing. Also, a hold can be "suspended" at any time before it becomes ready for pickup. Our system will not fill this hold until you manually change it to "active" or until it reaches the activation date which you set.

You can suspend or activate any of your existing holds from the online catalogue by logging into your library account. When suspending the hold, you're asked to set an activation date. Leaving the date blank leaves the hold suspended until manually activated. More information on accessing your account can be found here.If you are using the catalogue in the library, remember to log out of your account before you walk away from the computer.
